Turn “Sly” to the side and one can see the true message. The devil appears. Kogan’s depiction of the devil is not ordinary – first and foremost, this is a representation of the ‘devil’ in all of us. Sly, cunning and dangerous, this devil is not seen immediately. It is not obvious or scary, but manipulative and deceptive. “Sly” portrays a possible seduction, a dark wit and an exposure of hidden motives.
