Man Arising from Stone

One of Kogan’s first sculptures, “Man Arising from Stone” portrays human beings as the highest form of the material world and the beginning of light. He has an animal side as well as an angelic side. If the divine power in man overcomes his dark side, he will become the most perfect among all living creatures. The two aspects of man in their internal conflict and his “rising” out of stone are brought vividly to life in this powerful sculpture.
