The Woman from New Orleans

A premonition of the disaster of Hurricane Katrina, the “Woman from New Orleans” depicts an emerging African American woman as a representation of outdoing hardship. She is a quick witted, sharp embodiment of music, emotion, freedom, poverty, sweat and dignity. This woman never lost touch with her African roots. As the music drops into a deep sadness, she looks up in an act of beauty. Her image is a combination of African American culture and a depiction of experience.
